Archaeology magazine revealed 2022’s most exciting finds including Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance. SEARCH participated in the Endurance22 Expedition that located the famed ship, which was crushed by ice and sank in 1915. The Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust organized the five-week expedition.

Maritime Archaeology Sector Leader John Albertson served aboard the S.A. 𝘈𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘐𝘐 among a multidisciplinary crew of scientists. The wreck was located at a depth of 9,869 feet in the Weddell Sea only four miles from where its captain last recorded its position. News of the discovery reached millions across the globe. This is the second time a SEARCH project has made such a list. National Geographic named Clotilda among the Top 20 Scientific Discoveries of the Decade for the 2010s. The Archaeology announcement is featured in the January/February 2023 issue.
