National Geographic Clotilda Cover Story

Clotilda, the last ship to bring enslaved persons to the U.S., graces the cover of the February 2020 issue of National Geographic. A SEARCH-led the team identified the wreck in 2019 through archaeology, historical research, and science. Now the story of how this powerful piece of cultural heritage is impacting the community of Africatown is featured within this iconic publication and will inform an even broader segment the population.
