Florida Association of Museums Selects Chassahowitzka Exhibit for 2014 Award

The Florida Association of Museums has selected the Prehistory Exhibit featuring Chassahowitzka Springs located in the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, Inverness, Florida for the 2014 FAM Outstanding Achievement Award.

The exhibit tells the story of Central Florida's earliest inhabitants through modern Floridians and their connection to and reliance upon the rich natural resources. The exhibit utilizes graphic panels, interactive elements, a documentary video, and artifacts from the Paleoindian through modern day Florida from the area. Artifacts include rare finds such as the only known intact Pasco Plain ceramic bowl in Florida, carved cypress paddles and life-sized dolphin fin effigy, Spanish majolica, and more - all from Chassahowitzka springs.
