Laboratory Specialist

Newberry, Florida

 

 

    Southeastern Archaeological Research, Inc. (SEARCH) is seeking a full-time Laboratory Specialist to support multiple Phase I, II, and III projects across North Carolina, Hampton Roads, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, and the West Indies.

 

Applicants should have:

 

·         MA (preferred) or BA in Anthropology or related field

·         Completion of an archaeology field school

·         General training in artifact processing, identification, and analysis

·         Specialized training in a particular region, artifact class, or resource type (Tidewater lithic technology is preferred)

·         Additional skill sets in related disciplines (GIS, CAD, artifact photography, conservation, etc.)

·         Five years laboratory experience

·         Superior technical writing ability

·         Experience preparing collections to Federal curation standards

·         Fluency in MS Office software suite

·         Ability to work well in a team environment under the direction of a Laboratory Director and/or Principal Investigators

 

    The successful applicant will be highly organized, be able to meet deadlines, work well on multiple simultaneous projects, and have attention to detail.  Experience in cultural resource management and experience working on DoD and DOT projects is preferred.  This position is not suitable for applicants with schedule limitations, those wishing to work remotely, or those looking for part-time or freelance work.   The position will be based out of SEARCH’s office in Newberry, Florida (5 miles outside of Gainesville), and may include extended travel to SEARCH’s other office locations across FL, NC, VA and HI, or project locations, as warranted.

Office Manager and/or Administrative Assistant

Newberry, Florida     

    SEARCH is seeking an Office Manager and/or an Administrative Assistant in our Newberry (Gainesville), Florida location. Core responsibilities include general office duties, organizing travel arrangements, processing incoming calls and emails, updating website, organizing office facilities and supplies, and printing, collating and distributing outgoing reports and documents. Additional (and secondary) responsibilities will be tailored to the successful applicant’s skill set, and may include support for the following: 

   •    Contract Administration
   •    Bookkeeping
   •    Computer/Network Administration
   •    Graphic Design
   •    Website Creation/Hosting
   •    Report/Publication Formatting
   •    Technical Editing
   •    Archaeology or Architectural History Site 
         File Form Support

    The successful applicant will have a developed capacity for attention to detail, be organized and able to work well on multiple simultaneous projects, and be able to meet deadlines. Experience in cultural resource management, and experience preparing deliverables for the DoD and DOT is preferred. Applicants should have a demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, MS Office Pro suite, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Ability to use Deltek or GIS is desirable. This position is not suitable for applicants with schedule limitations.

Marketing Specialist
Orlando, Florida   

  SEARCH has an opening for a marketing specialist. Job duties include preparing marketing material, proposals, and presentations, attending conferences and trade shows nationwide, client management, and some office management responsibilities.
  Minimum qualifications include a M.A. degree; strong graphic arts and technical writing ability; five years of experience preparing successful proposals for Federal agencies; strong editorial review skills; and demonstrated proficiency in MS Word publishing and document formatting, MS Office Pro suite, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.
  The successful applicant will have a highly developed capacity for attention to detail, be able to work well as part of a team, and be able to meet deadlines. Expertise with cultural resources management for the DoD and DOT is preferred. The position will be based out of SEARCH’s office in Orlando, Florida.
